(Arnolds Park)– A trailer that used to house an office at a popular lakes area campground was damaged by fire Tuesday evening.
The Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department was called to Oar’s Campground at 23440 195th Avenue shortly before 7:00 p.m.
Upon arriving, Fire Chief Chris Yungbluth says firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the eves of the trailer. They gained entry and got the blaze under control in less than seven minutes.
Firefighters then ventilated the structure and retrieved two books of pictures and historic information on the campground.
Youngbluth says damage to the building and its contents was estimated at roughly 20-thousand dollars.
One firefighter sustained a minor injury while fighting the fire.
Youngbluth says the cause was an electrical problem with an appliance in the kitchen area of the trailer, which wasn’t occupied at the time of the blaze.
Arnolds Park/Okoboji firefighters were on the scene about an hour and 45 minutes ventilating the structure and putting out hot spots.
