(Fostoria)– A blaze Sunday morning destroyed a house near Fostoria.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says the Communications Center in Spencer received a call shortly before 8:00 a.m. from Ray Allen who reported his house at 2560 310th Street or rural Spencer was on fire.
Fostoria Fire Chief Aaron Rutter says they found the house completely engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene. At that point Rutter says fire departments from Spencer and Dickens were called to assist.
He says they managed to keep the blaze from spreading to some nearby buildings.
Rutter says no one was in the house at the time and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters were on the scene about four hours.
An investigation by the State Fire Marshalls Office was conducted, but officials say as of right now a cause has not been determined.
Firefighters were assisted on the scene by Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
