(Wahpeton)– A house in Wahpeton was destroyed by fire Sunday evening.
Milford firefighters were called to 1000 West Street in Wahpeton shortly after 7:30 p.m. after getting a report of smoke and a possible chimney fire.
Upon arriving firefighters encountered flames extending up a wall from the ground to the roof line on the northwest corner of the home. The attic was also on fire.
Firefighters attempted an interior attack but had to back off after the fire threatened to break through the roof over the main entry to the home.
Efforts then focused on an exterior attack. The Spirit Lake Fire Department was called for assistance with its aerial truck and a pumper. Firefighters then knocked down the blaze from the outside, garage and a deck of the home.
