Sioux Falls –
Dry, warm and windy conditions have fire danger on the rise.
The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, SD says that gusty winds will push the grassland fire danger index into the high category across Northwest Iowa, Southwest Minnesota and Eastern South Dakota by Saturday afternoon, as termperatures are expected to climb into the 60s and relative humidity drops to 20 to 30 percent across the region.
Red Flag warnings were already posted across much of Western Nebraska on Friday morning, with the warning areas potentially expanding through the weekend, as elevated fire danger is expected to increase.
