Fire Damages Milford Restaurant

(Milford)– Another lakes area restaurant has been damaged by fire.

The Milford Fire Department was called to Midge’s Restaurant on Highway 71 across from Style Craft shortly after 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Upon arriving firefighters found an addition on the west side of the building that a houses a walk-in cooler was on fire. They managed to keep the blaze from spreading to the dining room, which had filled with smoke.

Crews from the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department, which was also called to the scene, used their ladder truck to ventilate the roof and remove tin and wood to check for any signs of fire in those areas.

A dollar amount of damage wasn’t immediately known. Captain Shane Langholz of the Milford Fire Department says the rear storage area sustained heavy smoke damage and the back wall was charred, with smoke damage to the dining area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was discovered by a passing motorist.

Firefighters were on the scene about two hours.
