(Spirit Lake)– Fire Wednesday evening damaged a lakes area business. Spirit Lake Fire Chief Pat Daly says they were called a little before 10:00 pm to Campus Cleaners at 1710 Ithaca Avenue in Spirit Lake…
“A passerby seen smoke coming from the eve. It was about 10 minutes to 10. They paged us out, law enforcement got on scene. They said they reported heavy black smoke coming out of the eves. We made entry, called Arnolds Park-Okoboji for backup. We got in there and found fire in the back of the building.”
Daly says most of the damage is to the interior of the building…
“It looks like a lot of smoke damage in there, and then we had to cut a hole into one of the big roll-up doors so we could make entrance in the back.”
He says firefighters were presented with one challenge in particular…
“The building was just so full of smoke. It made it a little difficult. We did have several teams make entry into there. They found the one fire and knocked it down, then it was just getting through the smoke and trying to get it out of the building.”
No injuries were reported. Daly says they’re looking into a possible cause.
