Fire Call In Spencer Serves As Reminder Not To Overload Outlets

August 11, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– Authorities say a call Spencer firefighters responded to this past Thursday is a reminder not to overload electrical outlets.

Crews were called a little before 3:00 pm Thursday to 718 1st Avenue Southeast after getting a report of smoke coming from an outlet. There were no visible signs of smoke or fire when firefighters arrived. They observed an overloaded outlet that had some charring and shut off power to it. The resident was told to contact a licensed electrician.

In a press release, the Spencer Fire Department adds any electrical service that may have come in contact with water during the flood also needs to be checked by a licensed electrician.
