(Jackson, Mn.)– The financially strapped ambulance service in Jackson has been awarded a couple of state grants.
City officials say the first award is a $63,855 “Earn While You Learn” grant, which will allow Jackson Ambulance Service to hire and train up to six EMS apprentices in 2026 at no direct cost to the City. This grant was competitively awarded, and Jackson Ambulance Service was one of four services statewide selected to receive this funding.
The second award is a $98,887.01 Ambulance Operating Deficit Program grant, part of a broader statewide funding initiative approved by the Legislature to help offset the financial challenges faced by rural ambulance services. Approximately $8.2 million was distributed statewide through this program to eligible services operating outside the seven-county metro area, Rochester, and Duluth.
The Jackson City Council unanimously approved acceptance of both grants at its December 16, 2025 meeting.
