(Milford)– A fiery collision Friday evening on Highway 71 just south of Milford injured a Spencer man.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 76-year-old Timothy Hemphill of Milford was driving a pickup eastbound on 240th Street, pulling an unlit trailer loaded with a combine head, taking up both lanes of traffic. Authorities say Hemphill had stopped for cross traffic. At the same time, a car driven by 82-year-old Clearance Schweitzer of Spencer came upon the scene and collided with the combine. Schweitzer’s vehicle then caught fire.
Hemphill and a passerby assisted Schwietzer out of the vehicle before it became fully involved in fire. He was then taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare.
Hemphill was cited for failure to yield.
