July 25, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Des Moines)– Another northwest Iowa county has been approved for individual disaster assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Governor Kim Reynolds Wednesday announced the approval for Osceola county.

In addition, Cherokee and Palo Alto counties have been approved for emergency protective measures and permanent work under a previously approved Major Disaster Declaration. It stems from severe weather that occurred June 16th, 2024 and continuing.

FEMA individual assistance is already in place for Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Palo Alto, Plymouth and Sioux counties. A number of those same counties, including Clay and Dickinson, were also previously activated for emergency protective measures under FEMA’s Public Assistance program.

Residents in Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Plymouth and Sioux counties are also eligible for the Disaster Recovery Temporary Housing Program.
