FDA Issues Cheese Recall

October 04, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Washington, DC) – The Food and Drug Administration has issued a voluntary recall of some cheese products produced by Old Europe Cheese, Incorporated.

The recall is for the company’s Brie and Camembert cheeses that have “best by” dates through December 14th. The F-D-A says the cheeses may have been contaminated with listeria, which can be fatal to children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems — and has been known to cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

Some retailers may have repackaged Old Europe Cheeses with other brand names, including Trader Joe’s, Joan of Arc, and La Bonne Vie, and a full list can be found at F-D-A-dot-gov.

Anyone who’s purchased any of these cheeses are advised to return them for a refund or throw them away.
