(Spirit Lake)– We may never know for sure what caused a fatal house fire earlier this week in Spirit Lake.
Fire Chief David Kollasch tells KUOO news the State Fire Marshal has listed the cause as “undetermined”.
Kollasch says based on their investigation, it’s believed the blaze started in the kitchen.
Spirit Lake firefighters were called to 2610 Center Lake Drive around 9:18 a.m. Wednesday, minutes after they were called to another house fire on the other side of town. No injuries were reported in that blaze.
Kollasch expressed deep gratitude for the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department, which assisted with manpower at the Center Lake fire. He also expressed deep gratitude to dispatcher Jarrod Fischer at the Dickinson County Communications Center.
