(Spencer)– An insurance check with a fake signature on it has resulted in a forgery charge against a Spencer man.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation stems from a report it received back on July 2nd from a victim stating that an insurance check for more than a thousand dollars had allegedly been forged.
Authorities say a subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of 56-year-old John Mugge of Spencer. Mugge was arrested Wednesday and charged with forgery…a class “D” felony.
Mugge was booked into the Clay county jail pending an appearance before a magistrate.
