(Milford)– A red flag warning is in effect for the region for the second consecutive day today (Thurs.). It continues until 7:00 this (Thurs.) evening. Forecasters say the wind, extremely dry vegetation and very low relative humidity are creating an elevated fire danger.
The Milford and Fostoria Fire Departments were called late this (Thurs.) morning to a ditch and field fire on 260th Street west of 190th Avenue, southwest of Milford. Officials say a piece of haying equipment had caught on fire and that the flames quickly spread to a nearby ditch and field. No structures were threatened.
Forecasters say the extreme fire danger is likely to continue for days to come, with no measurable precipitation in the forecast through at least the middle of next week.
