(Spirit Lake)– This week marks the observance of Extension Week. As we reported previously the Dickinson County ISU Extension and Outreach office is observing the week with special activities each day. Things kicked off today (Mon.) with youth and family-themed activities. K-12 Educator Hanna Dibble says Tuesday will feature an ag-related theme…
“So we do have a fun contest for the folks in the agriculural community where they can identify different crop insects and disease to win some cool prizes.”
Wednesday will focus on Conservationist and Master Gardner programs…
“We’ve got seeds and reads and a sunflower contest. You can pick up sunflower seeds, grow them at home, and enter them in a contest this fall. And it’s also appreciation day for volunteers. That morning we have coffee and donuts out at the extension office, so stop by for some fun.”
Dibble says the observance continues Thursday…
“We are closing out the week with human sciences focusing on food, family and finance that day. An exciting thing we’ve got going on is Makenzie Johnson from the Science and Parenting Podcast is going to joining us, so if we’ve got any podcasters listening out there Makenzie is fabulous and, you know, as a parent there’s always situations where, yes, I would love to hear some tips on what there is to do.”
Different food trucks are also on hand each day at the Dickinson County fairgrounds.
