Excitement Mounts As Walleye Weekend Nears

(Arnolds Park)– Anglers are busy getting ready for the 41st annual Walleye Weekend this weekend. Kiley Zankowski of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce says registration numbers so far are pretty much on par with previous years…

“We’re really excited to have over 12 states represented already with people coming from as far away as Montana, Florida and Nevada, so we’re really looking forward to another great Walleye Weekend.”

She says the clock is ticking to get registered…

“Registration for all aspects of Walleye Weekend, so Walleye Weekend itself, the extended contest and the Biggest Walleye Tournament, all close at 11:59 pm on Friday, May 5th. So you can register online or in person at our registration sites, those bait shops, all the way until 11:59 pm on Friday. After that there is no access to registration, so make sure you get registered before that closes.”

Participants will be vying for a $41,000 grand prize in this year’s contest.
