E’Ville Woman Sustains Minor Injuries In Car Vs. Sign Collision

November 22, 2014

(Graettinger)– Minor injuries were reported to an Estherville woman Friday night after a mechanical problem with her car caused her to lose control.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says 21-year-old Brittney Funston was westbound on 280th Street and was attempting to turn south onto Palmer Avenue when the power steering went out on a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo she was driving. The vehicle went into the south ditch and collided with a guide wire on an electric pole and a sign owned by the city of Graettinger.

Funston was taken by ambulance to Palo Alto County Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

She was cited for failure to have insurance.

$500 in damage was estimated to the vehicle; damage to the sign was estimated at about $3,000.

The collision took place around 10:40 p.m. Friday.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Graettinger Fire Department and the Graettinger ambulance.
