E’Ville Traffic Stop Results In Numerous Charges Against W. Des Moines Man

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– A traffic stop this past weekend in Estherville resulted in a variety of charges being filed against a West Des Moines man.

Police say a patrol officer pulled over a vehicle for speeding around 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the 2200 block of Third Avenue South. It was also determined the driver, 27-year-old Beau Berge of West Des Moines, formerly of Estherville, was allegedly driving without a valid driver’s license.

Berge was removed from the vehicle and was being placed under arrest when he took off from the officer. Following a short foot pursuit, Berge was taken into custody without incident.

During the impound of Berge’s vehicle, Estherville police, with the assistance of the K-9 Unit “Max”, located what’s alleged to be drug paraphernalia and crystal meth.

Officers also located a laptop computer with markings of the Estherville Lincoln Central school on it. It was later determined the computer and a video projector and a camera with a combined value of 3,400-dollars that were in Berge’s vehicle had all been stolen from the school at an earlier date.

Berge was booked into the Emmet county jail on charges of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine; escape from custody; possession of drug paraphernalia; and interference with official acts. A magistrat judge set bond at nearly 67-thousand dollars…cash or surety.

An additional charge of possession of stolen property was later filed against Berge. He has yet to appear before a magistrate on that charge.

Berge was also cited for speeding and no insurance.
