(Estherville)– Students in several area communities head back to school next week.
Estherville-Lincoln Central is among them, where classes for high school students resume Monday (Aug. 22nd) and other grades at ELC starting Tuesday (Aug. 23rd).
Estherville police are reminding motorists to keep an eye out for students, especially at various crossings and bus loading zones.
Officers says motorists need to be especially cautious near DeMoney Elementary due to limited parking there. Motorists in that area should expect delays…especially in the morning prior to school starting and later in the afternoon during dismissal.
State law prohibits motorists from stopping on the traveled portion of any street in a school zone to drop off students. Anyone caught doing that is subject to a ticket carrying a $195 fine.
Stopping or parking in areas reserved for buses could also result in a citation.
The first day of school in the Okoboji School District is Thursday, August 25th; Spirit Lake doesn’t start classes until Monday, August 29th.
