(Des Moines)– A northwest Iowa man with ties to the Clay County Fair has been elected to serve on the Iowa State Fair Board of Directors. VerDon Schmidt of Everly will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Dave Hoffman who served on the board since 2010, including a stint as President from 2019-2020.
Schmidt has been a member of the Clay County Fair Executive Committee since 2011 and is the first person from Clay county to serve on the Iowa State Fair Board since John W. Cory Jr. of Spencer who served from 1942-1962.
Darwin Gaudian of Primghar currently serves as President of the Iowa State Fair Board.
