(Emmetsburg)– An Estherville woman will spend 60 days in jail and serve probation after pleading guilty to charges related to a hit-and-run incident in Ruthven last year.
23-year-old Laticia Whiting was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, open container, failure to provide proof of insurance and driving on the wrong side of the road after she collided with a bicyclist in Ruthven on June 9th, 2024. Whiting pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and causing serious injury by a motor vehicle.
The five-year-old child who was riding the bike was seriously injured and was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital.
Whiting was arrested the same night of the incident in Spirit Lake.
