(Estherville)— Three men face drug and alcohol charges following a traffic stop this past Saturday evening in Estherville.
Estherville police say an officer pulled over a vehicle shortly before 11:00 p.m. in the 300 block of Central Avenue for an equipment violation. Officers reported smelling alcohol coming from the vehicle while they were talking to the driver, 18-year-old John Leuer of Mallard. Upon investigating, police found two open containers of alcohol along with drug paraphernalia, in the vehicle’s passenger compartment.
Leuer was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
A passenger, 18-year-old Joshua Frederick of Emmetsburg, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possessing an open container of alcohol.
A second passenger, 18-year-old Brody Metzger of Wallingford, was arrested and charged with possessing an open container of alcohol.
All three were booked into jail and released after posting bond.
