Estherville Traffic Stop Results In Arrest Of Superior Teen On Drug Charge

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)—A traffic stop early this (Mon.) morning in Estherville resulted in the arrest of a Superior teen on a drug charge and a juvenile who was cited for driving while under suspension.

The Estherville Police Department says an officer pulled over a vehicle around 12:20 a.m. in the 200 block of West Central Avenue. While speaking with the juvenile driver, the officer could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle’s passenger compartment. A subsequent search turned up a baggie of what’s believed to be marijuana.

A passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Elijah Nelson of Superior, was arrested and booked into jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance…marijuana.

The male juvenile driver was issued a citation for driving while under suspension and was turned over to a guardian.

The Estherville Police Department’s Canine Unit, Max, assisted in the investigation.
