(Estherville)– A local community is about to embark on a visioning process.
The Estherville visioning committee will hold its first meeting Tuesday, February 23rd at 5:00 p.m. in the Community Room of the Estherville Public Library.
Estherville is one of 12 communities selected to participate in the 2010 Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning Program, a transprotation enhancement planning program that assists members of Iowa communities in creating roadside enhancement plans.
Organizers say the purpose of the first meeting is to introduce community members to the program and the visioning process. Estherville’s steering committee members will discuss their motivation for participating in the program and identify their goals and expectations.
The meeting is open to the public.
The visioning meetings will be facilitated by a Trees Forever field coordinator. The end result is to come up with a conceptual design plan reflecting goals and visions of the community. The plan, along with a feasibility study, will be developed by a landscape architect and a student intern from Iowa State University. The Trees Forever Field Coordinator will assist the committee in planning project implementation and phasing.
173 Iowa communities have benefitted from the visioning program since its inception in 1996.
Estherville residents interested in participating in the visioning process should contact Dusty Embree of the Estherville Chamber of Commerce at (712) 362-3541.
