Estherville Police Vow To Crack Down On School Parking Violators

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Estherville police are vowing to crack down on those who park where they don’t belong near the schools.

Police Chief Eric Milburn says his department will have additional officers in an around school buildings to enforce parking regulations when classes start this coming Monday. He says citations will be issued to anyone parked in bus loading and unloading zones; and anyone caught stopping in the traveled portion of a street to drop off a student will be issued a citation that carries a 107-dollar fine and goes down on the driver’s record as a moving violation.

Vehicles parked illegally in the school parking lots will be ticketed, and those parked illegally in staff lots will receive a warning on the first offense and may be ticketed and towed after that.

Milburn says safety of students is behind the increased enforcement.
