Estherville Man Charged In Connection With Stolen Vehicle

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)—An Estherville man faces multiple charges in connection with a vehicle that was reported stolen shortly before 2:00 a.m. this past Sunday from a parking lot at Avera Holy Family in Estherville.

Authorities say the owner of the stolen vehicle was able to give officers a description of a suspect involved in the incident.

A few minutes later, police were called to a report of a disturbance at 1739 1st Avenue North in Estherville. Upon arriving officers discovered a broken out window with blood on it. Police entered the unit and located 27-year-old Julio Barjas of Estherviller. He was transported to Avera Holy Family Hospital where he was treated for minor cuts.

Upon further investigation, Barjas was charged with operation without owners consent, operating while intoxicated, trespass and criminal mischief in the 3rd degree. He was booked into the Emmet county jail and was later released on an unsecured bond following an appearance before a judge.
