Estherville City Council Votes To Proceed With Possible Real Estate Transaction For New Fire Station

October 06, 2025

(Estherville)– The Estherville City Council voted this (Mon.) evening to proceed with a possible real estate purchase for a new fire station. The city is offering to pay $1.1 million for 7.1 acres of land that includes a building at 3303 Murray Road, on the city’s east side, just off Central Avenue. City Administrator Penny Clayton says, however, it’s not a cut and dry deal…

Fire Chief Travis Sheridan says a new fire station has been on their radar for nearly 20 years now…

Sheridan says a committee determined this would be the best option…

Clayton says money for the real estate purchase would come out of the city’s cash reserves.
