Estherville City Council Gives Green Light To Proceed With Wastewater Improvements

(Estherville)– The Estherville city council Monday evening gave formal approval that will allow planned improvements for the city’s wastewater treatment facility to proceed. The council approved a sewer revenue loan agreement to finance the agreement. City Administrator Penny Clayton…

“Christianson Construction out of Pender, Nebraska, was the low bid for those improvements. You also remember that even though the contract price is $2,550,000 and we just borrowed $2,288,000. The difference there is we are using American Rescue Plan funds to fund that difference.”

The project is being mandated by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. One of the main goals is to reduce the amount of phosphorous being discharged by the facility.
