(Estherville)– The Estherville City Council Monday evening gave final approval to the adoption of a new zoning district. The new Commercial Residential District is being established for an area on the southwest side of the city. Zoning Administrator Greg Van Langen reminded the council and several residents in attendance of the intent of the new district…
One council member, Julie Clark, voted against motions to waive the second and third readings and to grant final approval, siting concerns over transparency.
On similar votes, the council also approved the rezoning of that area of the city to the Commercial Residential classification. Existing businesses in that area will become non-conforming uses but will be grandfathered in.
The votes followed public hearings that were held at Monday’s meeting on the matters.
