(Emmetsburg)-Preparations are underway for the Emmetsburg St. Patrick’s Day activities. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The St. Patrick’s Association of Emmetsburg will host the 63rd St. Patrick’s Celebration March 17-19.
Chair Stephanie Mehan says the festivities will get underway on Friday morning. “We are going to start off the morning with our Chamber Coffee at St. Pat’s Headquarters. We’ll have our Irish Dignitary there along with our Mayor and our 2023 reigning Queens, who were just crowned over this past weekend. Friday night we have the Fish Fry and our annual Bean Bag Tournament and at 9 o’clock we’ll have Kayla Daniels playing some live music in the heated tent.”
She adds that Saturday’s schedule includes the famous St. Patty’s Day Parade. “We’ll have the Around the Loch Run that Iowa Lakes Community College hosts, then we’ll have the St. Pat’s Kid Zone that will be in the heated tent downtown also, with a lot of activities. We’ll have the Irish Beef Stew at the Senior Center. We’ll have our famous St. Patrick’s Day Parade beginning at 1:30. We have a lot of entries, so it should be a big parade for that again this year. There’s a free movie at 3:30 and we’ll have some Irish music followed by New Trick Band in the heated tent Saturday night.”
