Emmetsburg Authorities Ask For Public Assistance In Arson Case

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)—Police in Emmetsburg say a fire that destroyed a pickup and damaged part of a building over the weekend was the result of arson.

Police say they were called shortly before 11:00 last (Sun.) night after getting a report of a pickup on fire just north of Iowa Trust and Savings Bank. The Emmetsburg Fire Department was called to put out the blaze.

Upon investigating, police learned the pickup is owned by the city of Emmetsburg and was being used by the golf course. Police say it had been stolen from the golf course early Sunday morning.

The burning pickup was parked near the John Brown Law Office building which sustained fire damage on its south side. A dollar amount of damage to the building wasn’t immediately available.

The city of Emmetsburg and Emmetsburg police are offering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever’s responsible. Anyone with information should contact the Emmetsburg city hall at (712) 852-4030 or the Emmetsburg Police Department at (712) 852-2424.
