Emmet County Veterans Affairs to hold PTSD Awareness Walk May 4th in Okoboji

(Estherville)-An Awareness Walk for Veterans is on tap next month. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

Emmet County Veterans Affairs has organized a PTSD Awareness Walk for Veterans to take place May 4 in Okoboji.

Administrator Casee Ross says, proceeds will benefit a service dog organization for Veterans. “So, this is actually a remember and honor walk to kind of highlight the Veterans that have lost the ultimate battle to suicide, but also, all proceeds go to the Partners for Patriots, a service organization that utilizes rescue dogs. Their tag line is, that they save two lives, the rescue dog’s and then the Veterans.”

She adds that pre-registration is encouraged. “They can sign up either giving me a call at 712-362-7431, stopping down at The Dickinson County Veteran Affairs Office at the court house, or they can actually scan a QR code that is on the flyer. We’re trying to get people, as many as we can, registered before April the 11th for the rate of $22.22 for the 22 Veterans per day. After April 11th, it does go to $25, which is also the cost at the door the day of the event.”

The walk will be held at Maser Monarch Lodge in Okoboji on May 4 starting at 8 am.
