(Estherville)– A Spirit Lake man faces multiple charges stemming from a July 19th traffic stop in Emmet county.
Sheriff Mike Martens says a deputy observed a vehicle going 84 mph in the 4300 block of Highway 9 at 5:22 pm. The deputy pulled over the vehicle. Martens says the driver, 62-year-old Kevin Helfenstein, allegedly became non-compliant and was arrested. A search warrant was obtained and executed, resulting in authorities finding controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
Helfenstein was charged with possession of marijuana…1st offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of interference with official acts and speeding.
