(Estherville)– The Emmet County Special Olympics group will be having their biggest fundraiser of the year this Friday and Saturday at the Emmet County Fairgrounds. Dave Carrico says the rummage sale supports travel, equipment and more…
“We have 21-22 athletes on our team and we hold this rummage sale to support our travel to our events and equipment and just basically anything we need to support our team.”
Carrico says you can still donate items by dropping them off at the Emmet County Fairgrounds by 5:00 pm today (Wed.). He adds there are a lot of special things about the group…
“You know, it’s really kind of hard to put a finger on something like that, it’s just a lot of fun and it gives these guys an outlet. Our team isn’t working through like a handicapped organization or like a Hope Haven, we have a lot of Hope Haven clients that are on our team, but we have a few people on our team that are privately not involved in a group like that. It gets them all together, and to be honest we have an awful lot of fun dealing with these guys and knowing who is capable of what and getting them to do their best you know.”
Carrico says the event is their biggest fundraiser of the year, and will run at the Emmet County Fairgrounds in two buildings on Friday, September 29th from 8-6 pm and Saturday, the 30th, from 8-1 pm.
