(Gruver)– A single-vehicle crash Wednesday in Emmet county claimed the life of a Fairmont, Minnesota woman.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says 61-year-old Debra Rooney was driving a 2003 Chevrolet eastbound near the intersection of two county roads four miles north of Gruver. Deputies say the vehicle went off the south edge of the pavement, then crossed the roadway to the north where it rolled, ejecting Rooney.
Rooney was transported by ambulance to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville where she was later pronounced dead.
Authorities say a Ford/New Holland tractor pulling a disk ripper driven by 64-year-old James Fisher of rural Estherville had stopped at the intersection and turned to go west just before the crash took place. There was no contact with either the tractor or farm implement, and no injuries were reported to Fisher.
Deputies say the crash, which took place shortly after 11:00 a.m., is still under investigation.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Offifce was assisted on the scene by Emmet County Conservatio, the Estherville Fire Department and the Gruver Fire Department.
