September 15, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Estherville)– An investigation into a report of a suspicious person on a motorcycle September 10th on Highway 9 east of Estherville resulted in the arrest of a Fairbanks, Iowa man.

The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says authorities were called to that location a little before 2:00 pm but couldn’t locate the motorcycle. The person who made the report was able to give a license plate number, and it was determined the motorcycle had been stolen out of Estherville. At about 2:10 pm deputies were notified the motorcycle was at the Casey’s General Store in Armstrong and that the driver had tipped it over. Upon arriving a deputy found the driver of the motorcycle. Upon further investigation it was determined the same person had stolen a bottle of vodka from the convenience store.

The suspect, 43-year-old Randy Myers, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated…3rd offense, theft in the 1st degree, theft in the 5th degree, driving with a suspended license and possessing an open container of alcohol on a public roadway.

Myers was booked into the Emmet county jail.
