(Estherville)– Plans by Invenergy to put up some wind turbines in Emmet county as part of its Red Rock Wind Energy Project have been dealt a setback. That county’s Board of Adjustment Monday evening voted down the company’s request for a conditional use permit. Board members sited environmental concerns.
The action followed a public hearing over two evenings, including some additional comments that were taken during Monday evening’s meeting.
Representatives of the company argued their application met local and state requirements and that their proposed project is safe and protects wildlife.
The Red Rock Wind Energy Project would encompass several northwest Iowa counties, including Dickinson.
