Emerald Ash Borer Informational Meeting Coming Up This (Wed.) Evening

June 15, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Wahpeton)– Another reminder of that public informational meeting on emerald ash borer. Sue Boettcher of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Dickinson County says it will begin at 6:00 this (Wed.) evening at Mahan Hall at Lakeside Laboratory…

“Sadly it is here in Dickinson county so come and find out. Topics include how to identify emerald ash borer, signs of the infestation, is your tree safe, is it a candidate for treatments, what are some of the treatment options, and also what might be some trees that would be good replacements. So we’ve got some key speakers. Dr. Donald Lewis is a professor and extension entemologist. He’ll talk about the emerald ash borer. Mike Kitner is an entemologist and emerald ash coordinator for IDALS, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship; and Amber Geigle is a forestry specialist with the Iowa DNR. So lots of good speakers and they’ll give you lots of good information on what you can do and what you can look for in your ash trees.”

The meeting is scheduled to run about an hour and-a-half.
