(Okoboji)-An Ecotourism Day is on Tap Sunday. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Millers Bay Conservancy and Iowa Lakeside Lab are teaming up to promote Ecotourism in Millers Bay on Sunday.
Lakeside Executive Director Dr. Mary Skopec says, a number of activities are being offered. “We have Try Kayaking. There’s going to be kayak lessons that a local expert is going to help people learn how to kayak. There’s 3 different sessions. We also have Discover Scuba. We have a renown scuba person who’s going to talk about scuba diving and what you need to do to get involved in scuba, and that will be down on the Lakeside Boat Dock. We’ll have guided Nature Tours out of Lakeside, as well. Then, the last event is Try Standup Paddleboard. We’ll give them a little bit of a lesson which is basically just learn how to balance on the board and they can give it a try.”
She notes that the activities are free, however registration is required. “There is on site registration and a liability waiver that we would ask people to sign. It’s all free, and we just really want people to come out and see what Millers Bay is about when it’s quiet, and come on out and register on site.”
