(Spirit Lake)– Early voting gets underway today (Wed.) across Iowa for the November 5th election. Jordan Moyer of the Dickinson County Auditor’s Office…
“One change we’re making this year which we did do for the primary as well is we are having absentee voting being held in our Board of Supervisors Room rather than our Election Room that’s next to the Auditor’s Office. And that is the last office when you follow the hall on the first floor, and the easiest access point for there is to park on the south side of the building on entrance S7.”
The site will be open Monday through Friday during regular office hours as well as Saturday, November 2nd, from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. Moyer says today (Wed.) is also the first day her office can start mailing out absentee ballots…
“We’re sending out about 1,500 ballots I believe, and just a reminder that Monday, the 21st, is the last day we can mail those out. And we cannot go by the postmark date. We need to have it in our office by Monday the 21st if you want your ballot mailed to you.”
Moyer adds it’s a good idea to fill out that ballot as soon as you receive it and get it back in the mail to the Auditor’s Office or bring it there in person.
Moyer adds if you plan to vote in person, be prepared for a bit of a longer process than usual…
“Just a reminder it is a presidential year and there is quite a bit on the ballot so if you are coming into the courthouse to vote, please make sure that you’re expecting there to be lines because there will be a long wait period. If you want you can go onto our website and print off the absentee request form beforehand to have one extra thing done before you come into our office.”
