November 22, 2014

(Estherville)—An Estherville woman faces drug charges after being pulled over initially early this (Fri.) morning for drunk driving.

The Estherville Police Department says an officer conducted the traffic stop shortly before 2:00 a.m. in the 700 block of Central Avenue after noticing the vehicle was being driven erratically. Upon making contact, officers determined the driver, 19-year-old Melissa Clarke of Estherville, had been operating under the influence. Authorities say Clarke resisted officers during the arrest.

Upon conducting a subsequent inventory of the vehicle, officers discovered what’s alleged to be marijuana, drug paraphernalia and an open container of alcohol.

Clarke was arrested and booked into jail on charges of operating while intoxicated…1st offense; possession of a controlled substance…marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; interference with official acts and possession of alcohol under the
legal age.
