(Melvin)– Strong to severe thunderstorms early this (Friday) morning pummeled some areas with hail up to the size of quarters. That was the case in the Melvin area, in Osceola county. Some larger hail was reported about two miles west of Lake Park (see photo).

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for portions of O’Brien, Osceola, Dickinson and Jackson counties as the storms rolled through.
The National Weather Service says we’ll see a bit of a break in the activity but additional storms and the possibility of some severe weather will return later today (Friday), through the overnight and into the day on Saturday.
Strong wind is again buffeting the region as well. Gusts to 50 mph will be possible. A wind advisory is in effect for the region until 7:00 pm Saturday.
