(Spirit Lake)– A high speed pursuit very early this morning landed a Spirit Lake man in jail on multiple charges.
In a press release, the Spirit Lake Police Department says it started around 12:00 am when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado in the 1500 block of Highways 9 & 71. The vehicle came to a slow roll, but then took off at a high speed southbound on Lincoln Avenue, where it came to a brief stop in the 2200 block, before taking off again. It turned southbound on to Jackson Avenue, then went east on 24th Street, coming to a stop at the intersection with Hill Avenue where officers boxed it in.
The driver, identified as Gabriel Hall of Spirit Lake, was arrested and booked into jail on charges of operating under the influence…2nd offense; eluding; interference with official acts; assault on persons in certain occupations…bodily injury; speeding; four counts of failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right-of-way; and fraudulent use of registration.
Hall is being held in the Dickinson County Jail on an $11,000 bond.
A criminal complaint alleges Hall headbutted an officer, injuring his face, as Hall was being placed in the back of a patrol vehicle.
