Early Morning Crash Sends Man To Hospital, Then Jail

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A single-vehicle crash early this (Fri.) morning in Clay county injured a Hartley man.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old Alejandro Sanchez of Hartley was driving a 1994 Dodge van westbound on Highway 18 near 140th Avenue when he lost control. Deputies say Sanchez over-corrected, causing the vehicle to go into the ditch where it rolled once.

Sanchez was taken by police to the Spencer Hospital where he was treated in the Emergency Room for a minor injury and released.

Upon being released, Sanchez was arrested and booked into the Clay county jail for operating while intoxicated, first offense; failure to have a valid driver’s license, failure to prove security against liabilities and failure to maintain control.

$4,000 in damage was estimated to the vehicle.

The crash took place around 1:30 this (Fri.) morning.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, Spencer police, and the Spencer Hospital ambulance and paramedics.
