(Spirit Lake)– The National Weather Service says a large and complex storm will bring a wide variation of conditions to the region later today (Fri.) into the upcoming weekend.
Severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging wind to 70 mph will be possible this (Fri.) evening. Forecasters say temperatures will plummet by Saturday morning changing the rain to snow. While amounts locally will be under an inch, the visibility will likely be significantly reduced during the day Saturday as the falling snow combines with a north wind that could gust to 50 mph.
A winter storm watch has been issued for Lyon county in northwest Iowa and Murray, Nobles and Rock counties in southwest Minnesota tonight (Fri.) through Saturday where snowfall amounts will somewhat greater.
