(Sibley)– A Sheldon woman was injured last week after losing control of a vehicle while swerving to avoid a deer on a county road in Osceola county.
The Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Joan Samp was driving a 2006 Pontiac when she lost control on some lose gravel while trying to avoid a deer. The vehicle went into the east ditch and rolled, coming to rest on its wheels.
Samp sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center. Two passengers, 22-year-old Chad Deboom of Sheldon and an infant were also taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Samp was cited for operating without valid registration.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Ashton Fire and Rescue and the Ashton Ambulance.
The mishap took place shortly before 6:00 p.m.
