(Mountain Lake, Mn.)– An investigation Saturday into a domestic disturbance in Mountain Lake, Minnesota resulted in the arrest of a man on multiple charges.
Authorities were called a little after 1:30 pm to a residence in Mountain Lake after getting a report that the suspect, Michael Saypativath of Mountain Lake, had approached the victim with a hammer and smashed multiple windows out of her vehicle. The victim then fled the scene in the vehicle and called 911. Authorities learned Saypativath may have had access to a firearm and was suicidal.
Officers arrived at the residence where Saypativath was and the occupants, except for Saypativath, exited the home. Authorities say efforts to negotiate with him to come out were unsuccessful and that the HEAT Tactical Team was then activated. Team members arrived and convinced Saypativath to exit the residence. He was taken to the Windom hospital for an evaluation and was transferred to the custody of Cottonwood county authorities. He was then arrested and booked into jail on charges of felony 2nd degree assault (deadly weapon), domestic assault, and property damage.
Authorities say a search warrant was obtained and executed on Saypativath’s residence and that a hammer was seized as evidence.
