(Okoboji)– A man from Madrid, Iowa faces charges in connection with a domestic disturbance early Sunday in Okoboji.
Police were called to Lake Okoboji Resort around 3:30 am and discovered a 34-year-old woman had been physically and sexually assaulted. Further investigation led to the arrest of 38-year-old Robert Welder of Madrid, Iowa. He was arrested on charges of sexual abuse in the third degree…a class “C” felony; domestic abuse assault and public intoxication…both simple misdemeanors.
He has since been released from jail after posting bond.
The Arnolds Park and Spirit Lake Police Departments assisted in the investigation.
