(Spirit Lake)– The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is continuing its investigation itno a fish barrier that was vandalized in Spirit Lake.
Authorities say it happened sometime during the early evening of September 2nd or early September 3rd.
Officials say two padlocks were broken and missing, including one that holds the fish barrier in place. Officials say the barrier is a very important structure for managing the quality of fishing and water in Spirit Lake by allowing panfish into marshes to spawn, but preventing larger rough fish such as carp from getting through.
Anyone with information into the incident should contact DNR Conservation Office Gary Owen at (712) 260-1018 or Jeff Morrison at (712) 260-1017.
