(Orange City)– Two people were sent to jail late Monday afternoon after causing disruptions in a Sioux county courtroom.
Authorities say 45-year-old Jeramie Davies of Hawarden had become extremely agitated and was using profane language in the courtroom. After a District Judge instructed Davies to stop his actions, Davies continued his abusive language at the Judge. The Judge then ordered Davies in contempt of court.
Another person in the courtroom, 38-year-old Ashley Schoppman of Hawarden, was video recording the incident. She was told by the judge to stop, but didn’t. The judge ordered that she, too, be held in contempt of court.
Both Davies and Shoppman were transported to the Sioux county jail where they were ordered by the court to be confined for 24 hours.
Davies was additionally charged with disorderly conduct.
